My marriage has been through some storms recently but we’re working on it.

Does anyone have some devotionals to help bring spouses together please?

I like this but I’m looking for more, list your devotionals please!

Moments Together for Couples by Dennis and Barbara Rainey helped us the most. Devotions for a Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas is another good one.

We started doing a short devotional at night after some rough patches (see [this thread](https://forum.victoriousinprayer.com/t/bible-study-ideas-for-couples/1744)). Some nights we only got through a page because the conversation took over.

The Love Dare comes up a lot too. It’s more of a 40-day challenge than a sit-together devotional, but it can be good when you feel stuck.

Pick one and commit to a couple weeks before judging it. The first few days can feel awkward when things have been tense.

When things were still tender at home, my spouse and I started Night Light, the daily devotional for couples by James and Shirley Dobson. The short readings gave us something neutral to react to.

After each reading we wrote one line in a shared notebook, then prayed before the day got busy.

We also worked through a free couples plan on the YouVersion Bible app. One week the verses on patience gave us a way to talk about where we still needed grace with each other.

Five peaceful minutes are better than forcing a deep hour, especially when one of you is tired or tender.

Since you’re rebuilding after some storms, I’d look for something short and conversation-focused. The Meaning of Marriage: A Couple’s Devotional by Timothy and Kathy Keller has brief readings with practical questions. The One Year Love Language Minute Devotional by Gary Chapman works well on low-energy nights. My spouse and I do one entry and one question each, then a short prayer.

If the storms involve betrayal or abuse, I’d pair any devotional with help from a trusted Christian counselor or pastor. A book shouldn’t have to carry the whole marriage.

Agree with you on committing to a couple weeks. My wife and I almost quit Moments Together for Couples after day three. Every reading seemed to land on a sore spot.

We stuck with it, and that awkwardness you mentioned is the point. The nights where we only got through a page because we were talking instead were the ones that stuck with us. We still haven’t finished the book.

Luther told his barber that short, heartfelt prayers beat long rambling ones and our 5 minute nights have proven him right.

My spouse and I love the practical questions in the Keller devotional, because one real question beats a long lecture.

Maybe you don’t need a specific devotional at all. We’ve been married 43 years and the format has mattered way less than showing up together in prayer with Jesus and scripture. Bible plans, random chapters, whatever gets you both in the Word at the same time.

My spouse and I turn to compline (the evening office from the Book of Common Prayer) every so often. There’s a quietness to it that lets you be together praying the same ancient words without having to force some heavy conversation.

When things have been tense, it can feel like neutral ground.

The YouVersion app is worth checking out for the flexibility. They have devotional plans that run about a week, which might be easier to commit to when things feel fragile at home.

Watching a couple I deeply respect sold me on the Keller devotional. They’ve been married 40 or 50 years and still get excited about doing it together. They were gushing about how blessed they felt working through it side by side, even after all that time.

Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas pairs well with the Talking as Teammates devotional if you want something that moves between reading alone and sitting together.

This Momentary Marriage by John Piper is heavier but worth it. Save it for when you’re ready for a longer look at what covenant means.

Something with more depth works better. A study guide for C. S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity gives you both space to process together.

Ted Dekker’s The Forgotten Way is another one. It invites real reflection.

Once or twice a week, not every night. Since you’re coming through storms, I’d keep it that light at first.

What helped us was Devotions for a Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas. Not as a formal study, though. We read one entry on Sunday evenings, and then each of us answered, ‘What is one way I made marriage harder this week and one way I saw God’s grace in you?’

That question kept things from becoming a blame session.

When our marriage was at its lowest, sitting down together with a devotional felt too exposed for my husband.

What helped first was _The Power of a Praying Wife_ by Stormie Omartian (he later picked up _The Power of a Praying Husband_ on his own). For a few months we each prayed for the other privately. Eventually we worked up to a shared reading at the table.

Praying for someone who’s hurt you changes your heart toward them. If your spouse isn’t ready for the together part yet, this can be a place to start.

Check the Bible app first. There are tons of free devotionals on there.

For working through storms together, The Marriage Devotional by Levi and Jennie Lusko or Boundaries in Marriage by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend are solid picks.
