I know this might seem like a troll post but I am a genuine believer in Christ.

I’m also curious about the stars, and when I look up at night, I can’t help but wonder: are we alone here? Did the Bible say anything about aliens or life on other planets?

Short answer: no. The Bible never directly mentions aliens or life on other planets. It doesn’t rule them out either, though.

I’ve lost more late nights to this rabbit hole than I care to admit. Some folks point to Psalm 19 and the ‘heavens declaring the glory of God,’ but that passage is about creation praising its Creator, not aliens (see [this thread](https://forum.victoriousinprayer.com/t/where-to-start-reading-the-bible/1701)).

Deciding the question doesn’t threaten anything. If God made life elsewhere, He’s still God, and Christ’s work for us is still Christ’s work for us.

People have been staring at the stars and asking big questions for as long as we’ve had stars to stare at.

Short answer: no. The Bible doesn’t mention life on other planets. It talks about angels and other heavenly beings, but those are spiritual servants of God.

I used to wonder about Ezekiel’s wheels and whether that could be some spacecraft. Ezekiel says he’s describing a vision of God’s glory, and reading UFO tech into it puts a modern idea on an ancient text. Scripture doesn’t confirm aliens or rule them out. If life were found somewhere else it would raise some interesting theological questions, but the basic claim that God created everything wouldn’t change. I still look at the stars and wonder, though.

The Bible doesn’t mention aliens or life on other planets. I wouldn’t read a modern question into a silence the text never fills.

Psalm 8 has someone staring up at the moon and stars, feeling small, but the question there is why God would bother noticing people at all. The answer Scripture gives is that we’re not forgotten.

I went through a phase of reading Ezekiel’s wheels as a spacecraft too, until a pastor pointed out that the chapter calls it the appearance of the glory of the Lord.

My youth pastor once spent a whole Sunday on Ezekiel’s wheels, and he landed where you did, that it’s a vision of God’s glory and not a spaceship.

Same thing stands out to me in Psalm 8. I’ve had nights looking up at the stars and feeling small.

But when I’d pray, I’d remember that the God who made all of it still knows me personally.

Christ’s work is still Christ’s work no matter what is out there. For a while I worried that finding life somewhere else would unravel my faith, like the whole thing depended on us being cosmically alone. It took me too long to get past that. One inhabited planet or a million, God’s still God.

Good catch on Psalm 19 too. That passage is about creation praising its Creator. Scripture tells us who God is and what He’s done for us.

And it’s comforting that people have been staring up at the stars and wondering about this for as long as there have been stars. Wondering is what creatures made in God’s image do when they look up.

Same. I’ve stumbled across those Ezekiel’s wheels theories online too, and with imagery that wild it’s easy to see why people run with them.

Did that talk with your pastor change how you approach other strange passages, or was it more a one-time correction on that chapter?

The principle he gave me was simple: before deciding what a strange passage means, check whether the text already says what it is. Ezekiel does that in 1:28, where he calls the vision the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. Once I started looking for that, I noticed how often Scripture interprets its own imagery. In Daniel 7, the four beasts are explained a few verses later as four kingdoms, and in Revelation 1 the lampstands and stars are identified as the churches and their angels. Ezekiel was trying to describe something that ordinary language couldn’t hold, and I find that more awe-inspiring than any spacecraft theory.

That Romans 8 passage resonates when you think about the cosmos. Creation groaning. Waiting for redemption. If there’s life out there, their existence would be caught in the same fallen state as everything here, the whole universe, not just our little corner of it.

Does anyone else feel that when they meditate on the stars?

The Corinthians passage about celestial and terrestrial bodies is interesting. Funny how “celestial” could technically be read as “extra-terrestrial” if you wanted to go that direction.

I’m not saying that’s the intended meaning, but I can see how someone might read it that way.

The stars are beautiful, but even they don’t last. They burn out eventually, and that has struck me as part of what Paul means when he says creation was ‘subjected to futility’ (Romans 8:20). The heavens declare His glory and groan at the same time.

What keeps me from going too far with the alien part is that Paul ties creation’s bondage to the fall of man, the same thread that runs back to Genesis 3:17, ‘cursed is the ground because of you.’ Scripture doesn’t spell out whether that curse reaches every corner of the cosmos or mainly our world.

What Scripture spells out is the scope of the hope. Colossians 1:20 says God is reconciling to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, through the blood of Christ’s cross. And Romans 8:21 says creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption.

That’s where my stargazing turns into prayer. Less ‘who’s out there?’ and more ‘Lord, You’re making all of this new, and You’ve let me be part of it.’

Being made in God’s image has nothing to do with how we look physically. We could be shaped like anything and still bear that image.

As for aliens or life elsewhere, the Bible doesn’t go there.

As Christians, we already believe in intelligent life beyond earth, angels. Scripture doesn’t say anything about biological life on other planets. If it exists out there, whatever God’s purposes with it are, he hasn’t revealed them to us.

We don’t baptize dogs or witness to gorillas. There’s a built-in assumption that only humans fall within God’s plan of salvation.

That raises an interesting angle on your question: what if intelligent life out there never fell at all? Scripture doesn’t say directly.

If sentient life exists elsewhere and also fell, God would give them their own path to redemption, maybe their own redeemer suited to their context.

Jesus lived as one of us, on our world. That’s what makes his sacrifice relatable to humanity.

Satan’s called the prince of the powers of the air, and demons deceive. Say something shows up claiming to be from another star system and starts pushing ideas that contradict Scripture. That’s exactly their move.

Not every light in the sky is demonic, but I’d be cautious about how I read any contact scenario.

Not that I’ve found. I’ve dug around in the standard passages and even poked at books like Enoch.

Some verses you could stretch to fit. But that’s reading into the text, not reading from it. The Bible doesn’t seem interested in answering that one.

Would any hypothetical beings out there even need redemption? That only applies if they fell like humanity did, which isn’t a given. The Bible is silent on extraterrestrial life, which leaves room for wonder without demanding a firm answer.
