Maybe God exists outside of time entirely. Like, he perceives all of history as a single eternal moment rather than the linear progression we experience.
If that’s the case, “soon” just means something completely different to him than it does to us.
Two thousand years is nothing in the context of eternity. That fills me with awe. His words weren’t just for the apostles; they were for every single one of us across every generation, and I think sometimes we forget how staggering that really is.
Death is always near for each of us individually, which makes ‘soon’ perfectly true in the most personal sense. I find a lot of comfort in that perspective, but yeah… just my thoughts.
My grandmother always used to say that God operates on His own clock, not ours. We’re bound by time in ways He simply isn’t.
A couple thousand years from our perspective could be mere seconds in the eternal scheme of things.
