Been thinking about this a lot lately.

Once we’re actually there with the Lord, what does a regular “day” even look like? Endless praise and worship? Or is there room for the stuff we love here on earth, like hobbies or just hanging out with the people we love?

Does the Bible say what heaven actually is? What we actually do when we are there?

Scripture shows heaven involving worship along with real work and fellowship. Revelation 22 says His servants will serve him and will reign, which sounds like purposeful activity.

The final picture in Revelation 21 is God bringing [the new Jerusalem](https://forum.victoriousinprayer.com/t/what-does-heaven-look-like/1707) down to a renewed earth.

As for hobbies and time with people we love, Isaiah 65 describes people building houses and planting vineyards in the new creation, and Jesus talks about eating and drinking with us in the kingdom. Shared meals and honest work seem to carry over, without the stuff that spoils them now.

I imagine the worship will be the natural response of finally seeing Him face to face while doing everything else.

We’ll enjoy God and everything he gives us, relationships included, more deeply than we can imagine now.

The Bible doesn’t hand us a daily schedule for heaven. It says believers will be with Christ, fully known and comforted, without sin or sorrow. It never promises our current hobbies carry over exactly as they are, but every good desire will be fulfilled.

Someone once put it this way: “No one misses the candle when the sun has risen.”

How often scripture describes it as a meal. Isaiah has a feast on the mountain of the Lord, Jesus says people will come from east and west to recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Revelation adds the marriage supper of the Lamb. That’s a lot closer to a long dinner with people you love than to an endless service on a cloud.

There’s no night because the Lord himself is the light, so I doubt our clocks make the trip. Paul says now we see in a mirror dimly, but then we’ll know fully, the way we’re fully known. The questions we’ve carried don’t get thrown out.

I won’t claim every hobby survives unchanged. Scripture does say good desire has a place there, and friendship and the things people have made get brought in.

The Isaiah 65 bit about planting vineyards always gets me, since gardening’s the only work I’ve ever done that felt like worship already.

My grandpa spent his last summer teaching me to prune grapevines, so that Isaiah 65 line about planting vineyards always makes me picture finishing that row with him.

That candle line got me, since I’m the type who’d probably still try to pack my fishing gear for heaven just in case.

The candle and sun line might sound a bit dismissive to someone grieving a loved one they hope to see again.

The part about things people have made getting brought in doesn’t get talked about much. You’re pointing at Revelation 21, where the kings bring the glory and honor of the nations into the city. It suggests human work and creativity are welcomed there, not everything, just the good stuff after it’s purified.

A lot of what we love now is a shadow of something better, so it gets upgraded rather than surviving as-is. The desire behind the hobby carries over even if the hobby itself doesn’t.

Which desires are the good kind that scripture says has a place there, and which ones are filling a gap that won’t exist anymore?

Finishing the row together. That image gets me right in the heart.

I love the thought that the skills and moments we share with people here might carry over somehow, even into eternity.

Has anyone read Mary K. Baxter’s Divine Revelation of Heaven? I’ve been wondering if her descriptions of what she saw there might shed some light on this question about daily life in eternity.

The time thing is what gets me. Been reading about near-death experiences, and when people try to describe it, it’s like explaining 3D to someone who only sees in 2D. Doesn’t translate.

Our whole concept of what a day looks like, morning and evening, might not even apply there.

</div>

The question dissolves once you’re there.

Wondering how we’ll pass the time up there is something our earthbound minds ask because we can’t imagine existence without clocks and boredom. Heaven’s supposed to be beyond that. Our souls are still tied to bodies that measure everything in hours and distractions, so we frame eternity the only way we know how.

The mystery part makes it beautiful to me. Scripture gives us worship and ruling with Christ, and beyond that it stays quiet.

I used to have that same hesitation about ‘worship all day.’ What shifted it was trying to picture perfection. A sunrise without the nagging thought that you need to get to work or a meal without anxiety about what comes next.

When you factor in what we’ve been saved from, the eternal weight of judgment Christ absorbed in our place and the Father now seeing His Son’s righteousness when He looks at us, worship stops feeling like an obligation. Can’t wait to spend forever enjoying Him and thanking Him for what He did.

Whoosh, straight into worship, no detours. But that’s my take.

We’ll be so caught up in seeing God face-to-face that everything else waits until He points us somewhere new.

The parable of the wedding feast makes more sense once you notice how often Scripture frames eternity as a meal (the marriage supper of the Lamb in Revelation 19:9, for one).

Paul says we’ll judge the world alongside Christ, meaningful work at the table.

Being in God’s presence will be so fulfilling it becomes everything we need. That deep satisfaction is hard to picture now, but it’s what scripture is pointing toward.

</div>

The idea that everyone will be on their knees 24/7 while angels play harps isn’t what scripture describes. A lot of testimonies from people who’ve had spiritual experiences describe something way more alive, with actual activities, real connection, and joy.

Being free from sin means being free to enjoy things fully. The things we love, like creating art, making music, exploring, sharing meals, and playing games, might be shadows of something better waiting for us.

Without sin corrupting everything, the possibilities seem endless.

I keep wondering if heaven means we finally get answers to all those random questions. Like why socks vanish in the dryer.

The Bible mentions a new earth with real places to live, so maybe we get to explore without maps (or getting lost).

The thief got “today, paradise,” so heaven right after death. Worth separating that from the new earth later.
