Scripture gives more detail, mainly Revelation 21 and 22. There’s a city of pure gold, gates of pearl, a river of life, and no sun or moon because God Himself is the light. A new heaven and a new earth, so creation gets renewed.
That said, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9 that no eye has seen what God has prepared for those who love Him. So even John’s vision is probably symbols straining to describe something bigger.
My take is that Revelation 21:3 is the point: God dwelling with us, face to face, every tear wiped away (see this).
