Being righteous means being in right relationship with God and with other people, living in a way that reflects his character.
Jesus said our righteousness has to exceed that of the Pharisees, and those guys were the best rule-followers around (see [this thread](https://forum.victoriousinprayer.com/t/matthew-5-16-meaning-help-please/1705)). They had the outside polished while the inside stayed untouched.
Day to day it looks ordinary for me: telling the truth when a small lie would be easier, forgiving someone who hasn’t apologized, being generous when I’d rather not, loving the person in front of me. Micah 6:8 is my anchor here: “do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God.” None of it’s flashy. It comes from trusting God to let him shape you, which is slower and harder than following rules.
