What Does Matthew 7:6 Mean?

Some people see this as a reason to stop talking about faith with certain folks. It’s really about not letting arguments drag on once they turn into attacks on what matters most.

Jesus still answered the Pharisees, even when they came at him hard. So maybe it’s about picking the moment instead of cutting people off for good.

Small pushback. If this verse makes us quicker to label people pigs than to examine how they responded, we’re probably using it backwards.

Pigs expect food. So if you toss them pearls they can’t eat, they get frustrated and turn on you.

Proverbs 9:7-8 makes the same point: “Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults.”

The early church used this verse in the Didache to keep communion for the baptized.

Kinda feels like order matters. Right after the log in your own eye part, too.

Proverbs 23 puts it plainly, don’t waste your breath on fools. They’ll despise the wisest advice you give them. Same warning Jesus gives in Matthew 7:6.
