# What Is Gossip According to the Bible?

Going in on the relative who wasn’t there probably crosses the line, since it’s for entertainment or to feel superior, with no benefit to anyone. Ephesians 4:29 says our words should build people up.

Say something like ‘let’s not talk about this without them here’ and change the subject (see [this thread](https://forum.victoriousinprayer.com/t/everyday-sins-we-commit-without-realizing/1800)).
