Playing Call of Duty isn’t inherently sinful. Neither is developing violent action games. I don’t think we always need to find the line, though. It’s more useful to ask if something is wise for you in this season. Not everything that’s allowed is good for you, and that’s a different issue from what’s forbidden.

Loving God and walking humbly matters way more than checking items off some list of forbidden activities.

The stain comes from our choices and what they do to our hearts. Ask whether the game is pulling you away from doing justly and loving others, because that’s where the real damage happens.

I used to tell myself it was just a few dollars whenever those gacha pulls came around. Then one month I looked at my bank statement and felt physically sick.

Those games use the same mechanics as slot machines, and they got me good for a while. Finally deleting those apps felt like cutting off something that had its hooks in me.

Nobody’s brought up online play yet. You can pick the cleanest game on the shelf and still get an earful of garbage in voice chat, and after a while that rubs off on how you talk.

These days I mute randoms. Only play with folks I know.

A co-op game is how my brother and I stay close now that he lives three states away. We play Thursday nights.

Half the time we end up talking about life (even praying for each other over the headset), so for us it’s been a real gift.

Games built around magic and summoning pull the mind into agreement with spirits that oppose God. That agreement opens a door, even when the story says it’s all pretend.

Those images stick with you and fight against prayer later.

Some titles go further, rewarding pride and domination as the way to victory. That shapes how you think about strength and control.

The Spirit doesn’t lead anyone into content that mocks His holiness or treats judgment as entertainment. So guard your eyes and your hours.

No, I don’t think so. (I’m no theologian, so take that for what it’s worth.)

The medium itself is neutral, what matters is what you put in it. Same as writing a book.
