Easiest Version of the Bible to Read for Beginners?

If you were going to get a new Bible (either for yourself or as a gift), which is the easiest Bible to read for adult beginners? I would imagine something in normal English, but not dumbed down either, if that makes sense. Also, an accurate version is obviously a good idea. I don’t want something misleading but some seem easier to read than others.
