Tongues is a gift, and gifts should be received in peace, not squeezed out by crowd energy.
Some altar calls turn into a pressure cooker, with music swelling and people yelling instructions at you. A sincere person walks away feeling like they failed a spiritual exam.
I’d steer clear of anyone coaching you to copy syllables to get started.
Ask God. Don’t chase a technique, stay available.
If someone offers you a syllable starter pack (it happens), walk away.
Speaking in tongues out loud in a group needs interpretation according to scripture, or the person should stay quiet in that setting. But seek Him. He will show you the way.
The Spirit enables the words, but you do the speaking. They open their mouths and the Spirit gives what comes out (Acts 2:4). That distinction helped me stop waiting for something to take over and start responding to God out loud.
The tongues passages in Acts and 1 Corinthians have a specific context, and context matters here. A lot of modern practice twists them into something they were never meant to be.
It’s better to look at what the Bible says first instead of chasing an experience God might not have intended.
