If you’re reading this and feeling convicted, here’s a small but meaningful step you can take today: sit down and actually write out what your emotional and physical boundaries are. Ideally, with paper or with the notes app on your phone, don’t just do it in your head.
When boundaries live only in your mind, they’re easy to blur in the moment. But when you’ve defined them clearly and prayerfully ahead of time, you have something concrete to hold yourself accountable to. Start simple. Ask yourself: What kind of conversations, time, or emotional energy am I giving to someone who isn’t my partner? Would I be comfortable if my partner saw all of it?
If the answer to that second question is no, that’s your Holy Spirit nudge telling you something needs to change… and the change doesn’t have to be dramatic. Sometimes it starts with one honest conversation with your partner about where you’re struggling. James 5:16 reminds us to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other so that we may be healed.
