Can i do things (of course moderately) after being born again?
i used to play 9 hours or so a day long time ago (we are talking about 5ish months ago.), now i play 1h 30 min and 3 every weekend.
(4 times a week) cause I felt like I had to do this.
Being born again is about a renewed relationship with God, not a checklist of dos and don’ts. Remember, 1 Corinthians 10:23 tells us, ‘‘I have the right to do anything,’ you say—but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’—but not everything is constructive.’ This verse helps us understand how we can approach activities like gaming in our new life in Christ.
Finding the Sweet Spot
Your journey from 9 hours of daily gaming to a more moderate schedule is commendable! It shows a desire to prioritize your faith while still enjoying your hobby. Here’s the thing: there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. What matters is:
- Your heart’s intention
- The impact on your spiritual growth
Discernment is Key
As you navigate this new path, ask yourself:
- Does gaming draw me closer to God or pull me away?
- Am I neglecting my spiritual life or relationships for the sake of gaming?
- Can I use this hobby to glorify God in some way?
The Joy of Balance
God wants us to enjoy life! He’s not a cosmic killjoy. The key is finding a balance that keeps Him at the center. Maybe that means:
- Using gaming as a way to connect with other believers
- Choosing games that align with your values
- Setting time limits to ensure gaming doesn’t overshadow your spiritual practices
A Personal Journey
Ultimately, this is between you and God. Listen to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. If you feel peace about your current gaming habits, great! If not, be open to adjusting. The beautiful thing about being born again is the ongoing transformation—it’s a journey, not a destination.
So, fire up that console or PC, enjoy your games, and keep your heart tuned to God’s frequency. You might find ways to use your gaming passion to shine His light in unexpected places!

Amen, brother. The Lord has blessed us with free will, like seeds scattered on fertile soil. Just as Jesus taught us through parables, our choices can bear good fruit or wither on the vine. Remember, with faith even as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains. So go forth and tend to your garden of life, nurturing the gifts God has given you. May your path be lit by His eternal light as you walk in His ways.
The freedom we have in Christ is truly remarkable, yet it comes with a profound responsibility. While we're no longer bound by legalistic constraints, we're called to a higher purpose - to grow closer to our Creator. Just as a loving relationship flourishes through quality time spent together, our walk with God deepens through intentional communion with Him.
It’s not about rigid rules or giving up hobbies like video games. Rather, it’s about discerning what draws us nearer to God and what might create distance. In my own life, I’ve found that even simple activities can become beautiful moments of connection - both with loved ones and with our Heavenly Father. The key is to approach all aspects of life with a heart attuned to His presence and purpose.
You know, God and His angels want us to experience joy in life.
They’re not here to take away our happiness. Just live your life, be kind to others, take care of yourself, and keep that connection with God. It’s like having a guardian angel watching over you – they’re there to guide, not restrict. As long as you’re not hurting yourself or others, and you’re nurturing your spiritual side, you’re on the right path.
It’s really that simple when you think about it.
Hey there! I totally get what you're saying. It's absolutely fine to enjoy hobbies and interests outside of our faith. In fact, I think God wants us to experience the joys of life He's created. But you're right, we need to be mindful not to let these things pull us away from our relationship with Him.
I’m reminded of 1 Corinthians 10:23: “Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.” This verse always helps me check my priorities. It’s about finding that balance, you know?
Setting healthy boundaries is key. We can appreciate the good things in life while keeping our faith at the center. It’s a journey, and we’re all figuring it out together!
Walking with God is key to knowing if games are hurting your faith ??
Some folks need to quit gaming completely to stay close to Jesus ??
Took me years, but I finally realized I can’t game and follow Christ at the same time ? Not risking my salvation for pixels!
Trust God’s guidance for your own journey ?? Amen!
