I find myself struggling with feelings of despair and anger towards God lately. It seems like no matter what I do, I’m constantly faced with hardship and pain. I’ve been praying for relief, but it feels like my prayers go unanswered while others around me prosper despite their misdeeds. Why does He keep punishing me?
I know we’re taught that God is loving and just, but I’m having difficulty reconciling that with my experiences. How can I maintain faith when it feels like I’m being singled out for punishment? I want to believe in God’s goodness, but right now, all I feel is hurt and betrayal. Has anyone else grappled with these feelings? How did you overcome them and restore your relationship with God?

Friend, God isn’t punishing you - we all face trials in this broken world. Keep your faith and know that even in suffering, God is with you and working all things for good, though we may not see it now.
I’ve wrestled with those same feelings of abandonment and anger towards God. In my darkest moments, I’ve come to realize that what I perceived as punishment was often just the natural consequences of living in a broken world.
Shifting my perspective to see challenges as opportunities for growth, rather than divine retribution, has helped me find peace. While I don’t have all the answers, I’ve found comfort in leaning on my faith community and focusing on gratitude for the blessings I do have, even in difficult times.
Even Jesus faced trials, and through them, He grew stronger. God isn’t punishing you; He’s refining you like gold in the fire, shaping you for His purpose.

I’ve struggled with similar feelings of despair, but I’ve found comfort in remembering that God’s love is unconditional and His plans are beyond our understanding. Sometimes what feels like punishment is actually an opportunity for growth and drawing closer to Him, even if we can’t see it in the moment.
Listen, I get it. Life can be tough. Heck, I grew up in a refugee camp and faced some real ugliness when I came to the US as a kid. But instead of shaking my fist at the sky, I leaned on my faith.
Here’s the thing - it’s not about playing the blame game. It’s about finding strength and purpose, even when life throws curveballs. Maybe take a step back, breathe deep, and look around. You might spot a path forward you didn’t see before. Keep your chin up and your heart open!
God is always with us, even in difficult times Satan may have temporary influence, but Jesus will ultimately triumph over evil. Trust in His love and plan for you. Sometimes hardships can be opportunities for growth in faith. Stay strong in the Lord - He hasn’t forgotten you! Amen.

Consider Job’s trials, Elijah’s despair, and King David’s lamentations. Their paths were fraught with hardship, as we read in Psalm 22:1, ‘My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?’ Yet, through their struggles, they found renewed faith. As Psalm 34:18 reminds us, ‘The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.’
