Why We Owe Jesus Everything

Jesus’ sacrifice is a thought that can shake us to our core. Let’s reflect on this incredible act of love and what it means for us today.

After watching clips of The Passion Of The Christ depicting Jesus’s crucifixion, I feel entirely convicted.

Imagine being beaten, whipped, mocked, humiliated, forced to carry a heavy cross miles to your own place of death. Then when you get there you get nailed to that cross and you die a slow, painful death.

Yet, you have the compassion to forgive the very people who did those acts to you, and the courage to sacrifice yourself to save billions of lives, to forgive us for our failures.

This is Jesus Christ, the greatest man to ever walk the Earth. This is why we must follow Him. I’m eternally grateful for him laying down his life for our salvation.

Let’s pause for a moment and offer a prayer of gratitude:

Dear Lord Jesus, we are humbled by Your sacrifice. Your love for us is beyond comprehension. Help us to live in a way that honors Your gift of salvation. Guide us to follow Your example of forgiveness and selflessness. Amen.

The Magnitude of His Love

When we truly grasp the extent of Jesus’ suffering, it’s overwhelming. He endured unimaginable pain, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Yet, in His darkest hour, He showed us the true meaning of love and forgiveness.

His sacrifice wasn’t just an event in history - it’s a personal gift to each of us.

Our Response: A Life of Gratitude

How do we even begin to repay such a debt? The truth is, we can’t. But we can live our lives in grateful response to His love.

1. Follow His Teachings

Jesus said, ‘If you love me, keep my commands’ (John 14:15). Our obedience is a tangible expression of our love and gratitude.

2. Show His Love to Others

We’re called to be Christ’s hands and feet in this world. By showing love, compassion, and forgiveness to others, we reflect His character.

3. Share the Good News

The gift we’ve received is too good to keep to ourselves. Sharing the gospel is one way we can honor Jesus’ sacrifice.

The Ongoing Impact

The story of Jesus’ sacrifice continues to touch hearts today. From powerful films like The Passion of the Christ to personal testimonies, His love reaches across time and culture.

Every act of forgiveness, every moment of selfless love, echoes His sacrifice on the cross.

As we go about our daily lives, let’s carry with us the weight of what Jesus did for us, and the joy of the freedom He’s given us. We owe Him everything, and in return, He offers us eternal life and unending love.

Remember, in the words of that wise pastor: ‘Jesus owes me nothing and I owe Him everything.’ Let’s live each day with that humble, grateful perspective, always striving to honor the One who gave it all for us.

I’m still in awe of His forgiveness. How can someone be so merciful? It makes me want to stay close to Him always. Has anyone else felt this way? I’m curious how others have experienced His grace in their lives.

I’m excited to hear about the upcoming Passion sequel! It’s amazing how films can bring Scripture to life and touch hearts. As we anticipate its release at Passover 2025, I’m reminded of Jesus’ words: “Do this in remembrance of me” - Luke 22:19.

I hope this new movie will help people reflect deeply on Christ’s sacrifice and draw closer to Him. While no film can fully capture the profound meaning of the crucifixion, I pray it inspires viewers to open their Bibles and encounter God’s love firsthand.

You know, I’ve always felt that when we truly love God and follow Christ’s teachings, it’s like we open our hearts to His presence.

It’s as if His angels themselves rejoice, and God’s love surrounds us like a warm embrace. In those moments, I feel like my guardian angel is right there beside me, guiding me closer to the divine.
