Best Christian Womens Podcast?

I’m looking for a Christian women’s podcast and struggling to find one that fits. Most of what I find in space is all cutesy vibes, wine-mom humor, and hashtag empowerment culture. Just not me.

I want something with substance, like the female equivalent of those tough-love, get-after-it style shows, but rooted in biblical womanhood. Someone who’s going to challenge me about walking faithfully, not just make me feel warm and fuzzy for thirty minutes. I’ve enjoyed Sheologians, so that general wavelength is a decent starting point.

Would also be a bonus if the host doesn’t spend the first ten minutes of every episode talking about her coffee order.

Verity with Phylicia Masonheimer is my best pick for what you’re describing. She covers biblical literacy and doctrine without a lot of fluff, and spiritual disciplines too. Start with one of her longer theology series.

If you want something with more of an edge, try The Elisabeth Elliot Podcast. It’s archival, so less conversational, but Elliot was blunt about things like comfort and obedience.

If you liked Sheologians, try Theology Gals and Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey. They’re hosted by women who open their Bibles and argue a position. Journeywomen is a bit softer, but it’s still built on real Bible study.

I started with Theology Gals after burning out on the wine-mom genre you described.

There’s an Elisabeth Elliot line I think about with this stuff: “The fact that I’m a woman doesn’t make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian does make me a different kind of woman.”

I kept saying I wanted a show that would get after me. Then I’d drop anything that didn’t let me feel like I was already doing fine.

For the tougher biblical-womanhood lane, try Revive Our Hearts with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. There’s no ten-minute coffee order at the top. It’s Scripture, mostly aimed at whether I’m walking faithfully when nobody is clapping. She treats womanhood as obedience and repentance, and I’ve never finished an episode feeling warm and fuzzy.

Elliot first, then Verity. Masonheimer’s longer theology series are good, but they can feel like a seminar.

I wonder if dropping those shows was always about wanting to feel fine, since sometimes I quit things simply because the timing was wrong.

The part about walking faithfully when nobody is clapping is exactly why that show sticks with me even on the days it stings

That Elisabeth Elliot line nails it, since identity in Christ is the front line and Theology Gals arms listeners with Scripture for that fight.

I also appreciate how Nancy keeps ‘biblical womanhood’ tied to plain, everyday faithfulnes. I’m a fan of this one.

Help Me Teach the Bible is for Bible study leaders, so don’t let that put you off.

Episodes from 2015 to 2020, all 140 still up.

For more bite, the Blessed series on Revelation is 10 episodes.

For something current, try Knowing Faith with Jen Wilkin.

Thank you for this thread, and thank the Lord for pointing me toward The Modern Lady Podcast. Has anyone else found it helpful?

Certainly doesn’t hurt but I think finding a podcast takes some trial and error but there is some personal preference here. You need to kiss some podcast frogs to find the ones that work for you.

I like Masonheimer and it’s a good mix of history and current hot topucs. Covers how to apply your faith in daily life and two minutes later she’s on theology.

Lisa Harper’s Back Porch Theology might be worth a look. I can’t remember if she does the coffee order thing or not though.

Mike Winger (the BibleThinker podcast) isn’t specifically a women’s podcast, but he has that same no-fluff, get-into-Scripture approach you’re describing.

Girls Gone Bible might be worth checking out. I keep hearing people mention it but haven’t listened myself. Would it work for what OP’s looking for?

Try Joni and Friends. Joni Eareckson Tada on suffering, about five minutes a pop (too short to quit on).

A couple years ago the cutesy shows kept me comfortable while bitterness toward my sister crept in.

TGC’s Let’s Talk woke me up, the one with Jackie Hill Perry along with Melissa Kruger and Jasmine Holmes. Jackie especially talks about sin as an actual enemy to put to death, not a ‘struggle’ to manage.

Try The Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble. She covers the whole Bible in a year and doesn’t dance around the hard calls on sin and obedience.

Her episodes send you right back to your own Bible and prayer. No long intros about the day.

A podcast can teach you, but it can’t watch your life.

If you want someone to get after you about walking faithfully, find an older woman at your church and ask her to meet with you. Titus 2 doesn’t say find a good podcast. It says older women teach the younger ones.

Don’t let earbuds replace a real person, someone who can look you in the eye.
